How will you get the car to and from the auto repair shop?

How do you fit it all into your schedule: work, participation with groups you belong to, getting the kids to and from their activities? And, in the midst of all that, the car needs work. Maybe the car, truck or SUV needs regular maintenance. Maybe your vehicle needs repairs. Whatever the reason, when you need to get the car into the shop, it’s a pain fitting it into your schedule.

Picture an average day: you have to get the kids to school first thing in the morning. Then, you need to get to work. After work, you have to stop by the store and pick up a few things for dinner before picking the kids up from school. Then, your daughter has karate and your son has scouts. You’ll drop off one, and then the other, before heading back to the house to prepare dinner.

Hopefully, your spouse can pick the kids up and bring them home for dinner. But, then the phone rings; they’ll be late and you have to pick the kids up.

Think about the hectic day described above. Now add dropping the car, truck or SUV off for an oil change into the mix. Or, bringing the vehicle to the auto repair shop because the engine isn’t running right, or you need brakes, or you need to winterize the car, truck or SUV before winter sets in. Whatever the reason, fitting auto repair and/or service to the day will probably shatter your schedule into a thousand pieces.

What could help with this picture? It would be nice if, at the very least, someone could follow you over to the auto repair shop to drop the vehicle off. And then, if someone could bring you to pick up the car, truck or SUV, that would help loads.

Maybe a neighbor could help. Maybe your spouse will have time, but what are the odds you can both fit the timing of the process into your mutually hectic schedules?

Fortunately, there are some auto repair shops where they are aware of the problem with hectic schedules. The better of these auto repair shops will step up to help. They’ll come to your house and get the car (you may want to schedule this for after you’ve dropped the kids off for school). And, they’ll bring the car, truck or SUV back when the work is done.

If you want the vehicle picked up and dropped off at work, as long as it’s in the area, those better auto repair shops will provide pick-up/drop-off service that will fit your needs. The point is that, if you don’t have a neighbor who can follow you to drop off the car, truck or SUV, and bring you back to pick it up, you should check with your auto repair shop to see if they provide that service.
